Why Nearline Data Backup?

As data becomes older and value becomes less, CoreVault recommends moving data to our mid-level tier data storage service, Nearline. Designed to store data that seldom changes, Nearline is a cost-effective platform that does not compromise security. To reduce costs for our clients, Nearline data is backedup at a single off-site location and restoration time is slightly longer. It enables our clients to manage data while managing costs.

Nearline offers many of the same features as Online, but serves a different purpose in managing data. It is advantageous for customers that usually have at least 50gb or more of data.

CoreVault can also automate policies in the installation process to move data automatically from Online to Nearline, based on pre-determined parameters established by the client. For example, a client may decide that once data has reached two-years of age, CoreVault will automatically move the block of data to the second-tier service, which saves money.

Initially, we run this tool on your system, and provide you with a detailed report that will tell you important things like:

• Breakdown of data file types
• Data file growth
• Age and modification frequency of data
